SMARTER – Systemic transformation towards local and regional climate resilience

Local authorities face multiple challenges at the same time – heat, flooding, health, mobility and spatial pressure – yet plans often address these issues separately. As a result, measures may be less effective or even create new problems.

The SMARTER project brings climate, health, mobility, and land use together in one systemic approach. Using data, models, and co-creation, the project helps cities identify integrated and mutually reinforcing measures.

SMARTER develops the methodology, provides the data and models, and guides cities in designing solutions that link climate adaptation to broader societal benefits, enabling local authorities to make better and more coherent choices in their (re)development.
