Despite the scarcity of land in Flanders, spatial policy is confronted with a growing demand for space for a.o. living and working. Policymakers at different levels (local-regional) require instruments to deal with the competition for land in a sustainable manner.
VITO translated the most important principles of the spatial policy for housing into spatial indicators that map the 'node and place value' in an objective quantitative manner and.
The 'node and place value' indicators enable the policy makers to explicitly analyze spatial development opportunities and to compare them between locations. The study therefore is one of the building blocks for the future spatial policy.
