MOSAIC – Innovative and effective policies for sustainable land use

Across Europe, space is under increasing pressure: nature, agriculture, housing, and energy all compete. Policymakers often lack clear insight into how land-use decisions interact and what their consequences are for nature and climate.

The MOSAIC project co-creates new policy options for sustainable land use together with local and regional stakeholders. The project combines dialogue, data analysis, and advanced spatial modelling to explore and compare alternative future scenarios.

Through simulations and policy scenarios, MOSAIC supports better-informed decisions that strengthen biodiversity, climate resilience, and overall liveability. VITO deploys the GeoDynamiX model for Flanders to better understand future changes and their potential impacts in nature and landscape parks.
