The increasing pressure on the scarce space in Flanders creates a need for instruments and methodologies that allow to get insight in the development opportunities of residential areas.
Based on an assessment diagram that translates the principles of the Spatial Policy Plan into concrete and quantitative indicators such as indices that indicate the “core reinforcement potential”, all plots of the Register of Undeveloped Plots are characterized.
The results provide insight into the opportunities or bottlenecks of residential areas and therefore provide steering handles to spatial policy makers.
