The BOND project develops the role of the circular agent, a broker that connects companies, possibly across national borders and sectors, to achieve a more circular economy. The circular agent must have a sound idea of where companies are located, which materials they use, and which waste streams they produce.
VITO builds a Material Atlas, a top-down instrument that systemically maps companies in Flanders and the Netherlands, including their economic activity, estimated resource usage, and waste production.
The Material Atlas serves as a facilitator for the circular agent, a "conversation starter" for the involved companies, and a support tool for local governance and NGOs, which all stand to benefit from a more efficient material (re-)use in their domains.
